Myanmar-Splashes of Colour

17 June 2018

I’m not normally a fan of colour photography. But you exclaim, this whole website is full of colour pictures!!! Let me qualify that statement. The colour photography I don’t like are the exaggerated, contrived colours that were there or added to for effect. Advertisements would be an example of this such as the classic yellow beachball on the sand or the bright umbrellas against the dull sky. But I do like including umbrellas in my photos as they are very photogenic but under my breath I am saying thats another cliche’. You may have noticed (I hope) that I prefer a more subtle, muted colour palate in my photos.

Today I’m gonna make an exception. Myanmar is full of colour and probably the most colourful country I have visited. The bright colours match the warmth of the people and the brightness of their smiles. So here is a sample of what’s to come over the coming months  in full blown sometimes exaggerated colour. No holding back with the vibrance and saturation sliders in photoshop lightroom. Put your sunglasses on!
