Morocco

1 December 2025

In September of this year we took an Intrepid 13 day tour of Morocco. My impressions of the tour were very positive. The itinerary was well spaced, the guide Khalid was excellent and went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly. The driver Mohamed was also very smooth and exhibited defensive driving skills. We felt very safe.

As regards to Morocco itself I would recommend it as a place to visit as you get to see the original history of the place. Now with over tourism in some places we get resorts and Westernised facilities.. Not a bad thing as far as toilets go but it is important to preserve the originality of the place.

The people themselves were very camera shy – contrary to my experience in Istanbul and Japan. As you can see from my photos it is a street photographers dream, but you have to be very quick and discreet – that’s a bit hard with my big cameras…..The people are very friendly and try to be helpful. Sally and I were very comfortable walking around the streets of Casablanca. She was even given a free banana from a fruit vendor. We tried to pay but they refused to accept our cash! One thing I noticed about Moroccans is that they love to people watch. Every cafe we passed had the seats and the people facing the road. Was it Sally or my Nikons they were watching?

Sorry for the sheer number of images but this is for the benefit of my fellow tour friends who I shared the experience with.

Also if you a planning to visit Morocco this is a good guide of what you will see from a photographers perspective as opposed to tourists shots.
